Outlook Tasks Moving to Task Sub Folders and Back to the Task Folder

The following assumes you have made sub folders in the "Tasks" area and that you have moved tasks to those folders. Control y, just like the same command used in the Outlook Inbox, brings up a dialogue box titled "Go to Folder." Once this dialogue box is up, all you need to do is to down or up arrow to the folder you want to open, and then hit the Enter key one time to be put in that folder. Do the following activity to learn this skill. When you are finished move to the link at the bottom of this page titled "BACK" to go to the "Outlook Lessons" web page.

1. Open Outlook.

2. Press Control 4 to go to the "Tasks" area of Outlook.

3. Press Control y. You may be at the top of the list of all the folders in Outlook. If this is the case, down arrow to or hit the letter t to move to the "Tasks" item, and then down arrow through the "Tasks" sub folders.

4. Down or up arrow to the folder you want to open or be placed in.

5. Hit the Enter key one time and you will be placed in the folder you selected.

6. Do steps "3, 4 and 5" above to move to sub folders, back to the "Tasks" folder, and then to more sub folders. Do this again-and-again until you are quick and accurate.

7. If you are in a sub folder and decide to move (Control Shift v) a task to a different folder, be aware that you will still be in the sub folder you moved the item from. Press Control y to move to a different folder.
